Honoring Our Children

The goal of the project is to reduce American Indian infant morbidity and mortality rates, while eliminating perinatal health disparities in Wisconsin. The model of care is through outreach, education, case management, maternal depression screening, referral, inter conceptional care and consortia building.

Service Area
The Great Lakes Inter-Tribal Council and Honoring Our Children provide services to Native Americans in Wisconsin, including Lac du Flambeau. www.glitc.org

Diabetes Management

Contat Hope Williams and Sherry Ashby, RN CDE, Diabetes Program Coordinator. We offer group and 1:1 education sessions for persons who have been diagnosed with diabetes, or are at an increased risk for developing diabetes, and their families.  The Diabetes Management Program has been accredited by the American Association of Diabetes Educators (AADE) since 2009.  www.Diabeteseducator.org

The mission of the Vilas County Public Health Department is to promote health, protect the environment, and prevent disease and injury.

This Mission Is Accomplished By:

Northwoods Breastfeeding Coalition

Improving the health of our communities by protecting, promoting and supporting breastfeeding in Oneida, Forest, Vilas and Price Counties.

As breastfeeding advocates we represent childbearing women and their families. We believe that breastfeeding is natural and provides the normal nourishment for infants, benefiting both mother and child.  We come together in this coalition to provide a strong unified voice in the protection, promotion and support of breastfeeding in Oneida, Vilas, Forest and Price Counties.
